RANJHA: Bheri Hospital in Nepalgunj has started to test coronavirus from Sunday after the installation of real timer polymer chain reaction (RTPCR) machine.
Officiating chief of the hospital, Dr Pakash Thapa informed that although the test began on Saturday, the sample collection for test in RTPCR machine began only on Sunday.
A team from the National Public Health Laboratory, Kathmandu, had arrived in Nepalgunj on Friday for the installation of the machine and test.
The team brought the reagent chemical needed for blood test from Kathmandu as it was not available on Nepalgunj.
The corona test laboratory has been set up at the Bheri Hospital targeting the test on the people from Banke and Bardiya.
The compulsion to send samples to Bhairahawa and Kathmandu for test has ended with the operation of the laboratory here.
Around 100 sample tests can be conducted with RTPCR machine in a day, Dr Thapa said.
Out of the novel coronavirus suspected people kept in different hospitals in Banke, some 14 persons were tested negative on Saturday.
Atotal of 496 persons were tested negative in the district until Saturday.
