US witnesses 2, 516 new deaths taking its tally to 37, 135



KATHMANDU: The United States of America (USA), the worst-hit in terms of both deaths and infection cases, has witnessed 2, 516 new deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the tally to  37, 135 as of Saturday morning.

With 31, 631 new cases, the number of infection cases has reached 709, 201 according to the latest figures collated by Worldometer.

Currently, 612,069 coronavirus patients are undergoing treatment at various hospitals across America, of which the condition of 13, 509 is critical.  Meanwhile, 59,997 have recovered after treatment.

New York City is the worst-hit with 17, 131 deaths followed by New Jersey and Michigan with 3,840 and 2, 227 deaths, respectively.

The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) had declared Coronavirus a public health emergency on January 31 in the US.

Broke out in Wuhan City of China last December, the deadly virus has spread to 210 countries including two international conveyances across the world, killing 154,126 and infecting 2,248,037 people as of Saturday morning.
