BUTWAL: Rupandehi’s Sainamaina municipality has quarantined 42 workers heading toward Tikapur of Kailali defying the lockdown enforced to control the coronavirus pandemic.

The local authorities quarantined them after locals informed Mayor Chitra Bahadur Karki about the workers heading toward Kailali.

The workers said they waited for around 17 days with the hope that the nationwide lockdown would end and they would be able to return to their homes.

However, they said they were compelled to walk after the lockdown was extended and were running out of money.

Mayor Karki said that the workers will be allowed to go home in Tikapur after undergoing a health checkup.
