Nepali national dies from COVID-19 in UK

LONDON: An ex-British Gurkha serviceman Chet Prasad Gurung has died from COVID-19  in the UK. He was 59-year-old,  from Parbat district of Nepal. He was living in London.

Gurung died at local Northwick Park Hospital last night.

Senior vice-president of Tamudhi UK London Branch, Gurung, was a well-known person among the Nepali diaspora here as a philanthropist.

He had been living in isolation at his home as per doctor’s advice after running a fever for two weeks.

Gurung was taken to the emergency ward after experiencing a problem in breathing and later shifted to ICU. He was kept on a ventilator after his health worsened two days from being admitted to the hospital.
A spokesperson at the Nepali Embassy in London, Sharad Raj Aran informed about Gurung’s passing away to his family and the related organizations of Nepalis.

So far, three Nepalis have died from the virus in the UK.
