Indian workers rescued, kept in quarantine

BUTWAL: Around 150 Indian workers have been rescued and kept in quarantine in Bhairahawa in view of the novel coronavirus risk.

Indian nationals were working in Nepal had come in Bhairahawa on their way to their homes in India after the government imposed a nationwide lockdown to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection.

The Rupandehi District Administration rescued these people from the Nepal-India border area and has made arrangements for keeping them in quarantine.

They are currently kept at the quarantine facility at the Nima-Pratima Technical School in Bhairahawa.

Among them, 14 are females and the rest male. Their health was examined before keeping them in quarantine.

Arrangements have been made to conduct their regular health checkup in the quarantine, Chief District Officer of Rupandehi, Mahadev Panta said, adding that they have been kept in a well-managed quarantine facility in the three-storied college building.

According to him, the Nepal Army has been entrusted for the security of the Indian workers.

Meanwhile, the Siddharthanagar Municipality is managing food for them.
