Sisdole locals obstruct garbage disposal over COVID-19 fears

KATHMANDU: Locals of Sisdole in Nuwakot district have barred dumping of waste at a landfill site there saying that it will increase a risk of COVID-19 infection in their locality.

Following the obstruction, the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has not collected waste for the past two days.

Sisdole locals have warned the metropolis to refrain from bringing the waste to the landfill site during the lockdown period. They have demanded that the waste should be disinfected before being dumped.

KMC officials said they were working out to get the issue resolved.
