Gokarneshwor makes 27-bed isolation wards

KATHMANDU: Gokarneshwor Municipality in Kathmandu has managed an isolation ward of 27 beds as part of its preparations against COVID-19.

Mayor Santosh Chalise informed that a 15-bed private hospital located at Jorpati Chowk has been rented for three months to tackle the coronavirus infection.

The hospital will have five state-of-the-art ICUs, five ventilators and five isolation beds, Mayor Chalise said.

According to him, seven isolation wards have been managed in coordination with Nepal Medical College, Attarkhel and five others from Shankharapur Hospital.

He said more beds would be added with cooperation from two large hospitals located in the municipality if required.

The Municipality has also formed a nine-member team of doctors led by Subash Pyakurel of Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH).

Likewise, the municipality has also mobilized health workers in public holidays for the treatment of regular patients from all nine health posts including Gokarna Primary Health Care Centre.
