WHO says NPHL’s testing for Covid-19 is reliable

KATHMANDU: The World Health Organization (WHO) has stated that the test conducted by Nepal’s Teku-based National Public Health Laboratory (NPHL) for Covid-19 is reliable and satisfactory.

WHO representatives have revived the NPHL laboratories from 13 to 21 March upon the request of MOHP, Dr. Jonathan Ashcroft.

According to the report, the NPHL is well equipped to respond the suspected cases of Covid-19, and the relevant NPHL team demonstrates a high competency with respect to molecular diagnosis of Covid-19.

Similarly, procedures at NPHL are well performed and the results are accurately interpreted and reported, WHO stated.

Similarly, WHO recommended Nepal to established additional Covid-19 testing capacity.
