Bhojpur-Biratnagar flight suspended for six months

BHOJPUR: The Bhojpur-Biratnagar flight has remained closed for the past six months.

This has caused inconvenience to the people in this hilly district.

Patients, who are referred for treatment to hospitals outside of the District Hospital Bhojpur, have been affected by the closure of service.

Patients sometimes lose their lives amidst the lengthy trip as gravel road along the Leguwa-Pakhribas route makes the travel more arduous.

It should be noted that the Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) had announced the closure of the flight, citing several reasons.

People of the hilly district of Bhojpur are dependent on Biratnagar and Dharan to seek treatment in case of referred cases.

The NAC used to operate four flights in a week from Bhojpur to Biratnagar.

The NAC Bhojpur office, meanwhile, said the service has been suspended for the time being due to a decline in the flights’ demand.

Office Chief Dinesh Sundash said efforts are underway to re-operate the service.
