Delhi Police arrest couple with connections to IS module

NEW DELHI: A special cell of Delhi Police on Sunday arrested a couple with alleged links to a module of the Islamic State (IS), Indian media reports have said.

Jahanazaib Sami and his wife Hinda Bashir Beigh were taken into custody from Okhla of New Delhi.

Initial investigation suggests they have links to the IS’s Wilayat Khorasan.

Police said the couple was arrested in possession of some delicate materials.

A preliminary probe has revealed that they were also running a social media handle Indian Muslims Unite aimed at increasing the participation in anti-CAA demonstrations.

Originally from Kashmir, they had been residing in Delhi’s Jamia Nagar area since August, 2019.
