KATHMANDU: The Melamchi Drinking Water Project has dismissed speculations of the threat of novel coronavirus.

The national pride project is about to complete as little construction is left now.

Even though the Chinese Sino Hydro Project is undertaking the project, it is not affected by the corona threat.

China is currently facing hardship due to the epidemic of coronavirus.

According to Kamal Raj Shrestha, senior division engineer, the construction work is going on smoothly.

Shrestha added that the work has been expedited to meet the target of supplying drinking water in Kathmandu by July this year.

About 50 percent of workers are Chinese. However, they are regularly working in the field.
