KATHMANDU: The government has formally picked former Minister Mahendra Bahadur Pandey as Nepali Ambassador to Nepal.
A recent Cabinet meeting decided to recall incumbent Ambassador Leela Mani Paudyal and recommend Pandey to the post, government Spokesperson Yuvaraj Khatiwada said at a press meet on Thursday.
As per the constitutional provision, Pandey has to face a parliamentary hearing before being appointed as Ambassador by President.
Pandey had assumed the post of Minister for Foreign Affairs under Sushil Koirala led government.
