KATHMANDU: Nepal has received a 155-run target from Malaysia at a cricket tournament under the ACC Eastern Region Twenty20 held at Terdthai Cricket Ground in Bangkok on Saturday.
Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Malaysia notched up 154 runs losing six wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
Malaysia’s cricketer Syed Aziz top-scored with 51 runs and remained unbeaten. Similarly, Anwar Arudin made 31 runs while Mohammad Noor contributed 30 runs.
In reply, Nepal’s Sandeep Lamichhane grabbed three wickets of Malaysia, becoming the first Nepali cricketer to take 100 wickets in the Twenty20. Similarly, Avinash Bohara took two wickets.
Nepal, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore and Hong Kong are taking part in the cricket tournament.
Being played under the round-robin format, top two teams of the tournament will be allowed to play in the Asia Cup Qualifiers.
Earlier, Malaysia had made a clean sweep in the fifth T20 series against Hong Kong held recently.
