NA passes condolence motion

KATHMANDU: Monday’s meeting of the National Assembly has passed condolence motion on the death of Constituent Assembly member, Siddhartha Kumar Somani and National Assembly member, Durga Prasad Upadhyaya.

The meeting passed the proposal, presented by NA Chair Ganesh Prasad Timilsina, unopposed. Wishing for eternal peace to the departed soul of Somani and Upadhyaya, the meeting also observed one minute’s silence.

Upadhyaya was elected as NA member from Nepali Congress in the election held in 2074 BS.

Suffering from cancer for long, Upadhyaya died in course of treatment on February 14 at the age of 51.

Similarly, Somani was elected to CA from Nepal Communist Party under the proportional electoral system in 2064 BS.
He died on February 8 at the age of 52. The NA will again meet on February 18.
