In pics: When Nepali evacuees from China landed at TIA



KATHMANDU: Nepali evacuees from China turned jubilant after an aircraft carrying them landed at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) on Sunday morning.

They expressed their happiness for a successful evacuation from the coronavirus-hit city of Wuhan.

“Happiness in darkness, from gloomy to cheers; feeling of returning motherland from coronavirus hunted city,” one evacuee shared a video on Twitter.


175 Nepali nationals who were evacuated from Wuhan in the Chinese Province of Hubei have been taken to an isolated place in Kharipati, Bhaktapur.

They will be quarantined at the training center of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) for 15 days.

An aircraft of Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) carrying 175 Nepalis landed at the TIA around 3:20 am on Sunday morning.

According to Nepali Embassy in Beijing, six were not allowed to board the flight after they were found having a fever and four others opted to remain in Wuhan.
