NAC aircraft leaves for Wuhan to evacuate Nepalis



KATHMANDU: An aircraft of Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has left for Wuhan, China on Saturday to evacuate Nepalis from the city that is currently reeling under the epidemic of Covid-19.

Three pilots, six cabin crews, four doctors of Nepal Army, one engineer and a loadmaster are onboard the aircraft.

The aircraft is scheduled to return at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) at 2:15 am on Sunday.

The Nepalis to be brought from China will undergo screening at the airport for Covid-19 upon their arrival.

Those showing symptoms similar to the disease will be sent to the Teku-based Shukraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital and others to isolation in Kharipati, Bhaktapur.

They will be quarantined at the training center of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) for 14 days. A total of 199 isolation beds have been already arranged to quarantine the evacuees.

A total of 187 out of some 215 Nepalis living in Hubei Province have applied to be evacuated.
