KATHMANDU: Lawmakers of the National Assembly (NA) today demanded stern action against the murderers of Dilip Mahato, who was allegedly killed on Friday for obstructing illegal sand mining in Dhanusha district.

NA members said mere punishment to the murderers will not be enough. They demanded stern steps to ensure that such incidents will not repeat in the future.

Speaking during today’s session of the NA, lawmaker Bimala Rai Paudel said that the government should make sure that such incidences will never happen again while demanding the government to take stern action against the culprits.

Similarly, lawmaker Brishesh Chandra Lal smelt a rat in the case saying that even the police were hesitant to take action against the culprits.

The removal of the victim’s body from the incident site without investigation indicates that the police are not serious about taking action against the murderers.
