Deputy Speaker Tumbahangphe adamant about not stepping down

KATHMANDU: Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr. Shiva Maya Tumbahangphe has remained adamant about not stepping down.

The Deputy Speaker told the Chairmen of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) on Sunday that she will not quit.

Tumbahangphe had reached Baluwatar after she was summoned by NCP top-notch leaders including Chairman duo KP Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal for a discussion.

According to the Baluwatar source, the leaders requested Tumbahangphe to quit which she denied vehemently and walked out of the meeting.

NCP Secretariat meeting on Sunday had requested Tumbahangphe to step down. However, she has insisted that she is not quitting anytime soon.

Earlier this morning, NCP Chairmen Oli and Dahal held a meeting on the selection of a new Speaker.

According to a source, Tumbahangphe was summoned to Baluwatar after the meeting.

Top-leaders of the ruling party including General Secretary Bishnu Poudel and Secretariat member Ishwor Pokharel among others were present in the meeting with the Deputy Speaker.
