It’s official: Province-3 is Bagmati Province with Hetauda its capital

KATHMANDU: The Provincial Assembly of Province 3 today decided formally to name the province as Bagmati and Hetauda as its capital.

The legislative body held this morning, however, rejected the proposal of naming Kavre as its capital.

The name has been decided after around two years after the formation of the provincial governments.

The provincial assembly was earlier undecided over the name of the province and capital owing to diverse opinions from within the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) and other political parties.

The ruling NCP’s Secretariat had last week instructed its provincial lawmakers to propose Bagmati and Hetauda as the name and capital respectively.

Meanwhile, the Bibeksheel Nepali Party, which has three lawmakers, had proposed Dhulikhel as the capital of Province 3. The main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) was in favor of Bagmati and Hetauda.
