KATHMANDU: The court orders have been criticized as an obstruction to development at the meeting of the parliamentary committee on Tuesday.
At the meeting of the Industry, Commerce and Parliamentary Committee under the House of Representatives on tax collection from Casino Anna and remuneration to the employees, Secretary at Home Ministry, Prem Kumar Rai, questioned the lawmakers why they were silent on problems created by the court.
He argued that then proprietor of the casino Tapta Bahadur Bista and Kalpa Deep Rai were challenging the rule of law.
They need to be arrested; tax collected and payment ensured to the workers, Home Secretary said, adding that the court was a hurdle to it.
The casino is yet to submit Rs 160 million in tax and due to provide remuneration and incentives amounting to Rs 220 million to 922 employees, according to Home Secretary Prem Kumar Rai.
