KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel has demanded the party’s leadership rectify the decision on the timetable for the 14th General Convention and the formation of departments.

Speaking to media on Saturday in presence of General Secretary Shashanka Koirala and former General Secretary Prakashman Singh, leader Poudel accused President Sher Bahadur Deuba of landing the party in trouble.

“Decisions will invite problems in the party,” Poudel said, “The date for the General Convention was fixed in presence of a few people, bypassing the dissenting leaders.”

Poudel further accused President Deuba of making unilateral decisions showing the majority.

After much internal debate, NC on Friday had finally decided to hold its 14th general convention in February 2021.

The Central working committee meeting that was not attended by dissenting factions had taken a decision on a majority vote.
