Chairperson Shahi ‘freed’ by Biplav outfit



DAILEKH: Biplav, an outlawed outfit, who affirmed the allegations of the kidnapping of the Thatikhand Rural Municipality Chairperson Dhir Bahadur Shahi, has set him free on Sunday.

Purna Chandra  Joshi, DIG of Karnali Province confirmed the news of Shahi’s release and said that Shahi was found in the jungle of Shubhakalika rural municipality.

Earlier, Bheri- Karnali Bureau incharge of Biplav outfit, Ravi had confirmed the ‘kidnap’ issuing a press release. He had stated that Shahi was ‘abducted’ for investigation on charges against him of ‘snooping against the party’ and corruption in the municipality.

Shahi was taken into control by an ‘unidentified’ group Saturday evening.

Prior tot he statement, in his telephone call, a cadre had informed that Shahi was ‘arrested’ by his party for snooping and acting against the Biplav-led outfit.

He blamed Shahi for irregularities and corruption in the municipality.

Ravi, however,  denied having kidnapped Shahi’s wife saying she had insisted to go along with her husband. She was sent back later, he confirmed.
