Who is Miss World 2019 Toni-Ann Singh?



KATHMANDU: Toni-Ann Singh from Jamaica was on Saturday crowned the 69th Miss World.  Singh, 23, holds a degree in women’s studies and psychology from Florida State University and aspires to be a medical doctor, according to the Miss World website. She, according to the website, had previously worked as president of the Caribbean students association.

Singh, who is the fourth Jamaican woman to win the beauty pageant, enjoys singing, cooking, vlogging, volunteering and singing in her spare time.

The most important thing in her life, according to the Miss World website, is her mother, who she credits for allowing and supporting her to pursue her dreams in every way possible, according to the Miss World website.

Born in Jamaica’s Morant Bay, Toni-Ann shifted to the US at the age of nine and settled in Florida. The 23-year-old graduated from Florida State University in Tallahassee with a degree in women’s studies and psychology.

As per information made available on the Miss World website, Toni-Ann aspires to be a doctor and has previously worked as president of the Caribbean students association. Toni-Ann spends her free time singing, cooking, vlogging, volunteering, and singing.

For Toni-Ann, nothing and nobody is above her mother. As mentioned on the website, she credits her mother for supporting her to pursue her dreams consistently. Toni-Ann’s mother is from Jamaica and of African-Caribbean descent while her father, Bradshaw Singh, is of Indo-Caribbean descent.

Toni-Ann, after winning the Miss Jamaica World 2019 contest, represented Jamaica in the Miss World 2019 pageant. She is the fourth woman from Jamaica to win the Miss World title.

Jamaica won the Miss World title after a decade-long gap, with Lisa Hanna winning the title in 1993. Previously, Jamaica had won the title in 1963 and 1976.
