Nepal wraps up 13th SAG with 51 gold medals

KATHMANDU: Nepal wrapped up the 13th South Asian Games (SAG) held in Kathmandu, Pokhara and Janakpur bagging 51 gold medals. It is the highest number of gold medals won by Nepal in the regional sporting extravaganza.

Nepal pocketed the 51st gold medal defeating Bhutan 2-1 in the men’s football played at the jam-packed Dashrath Stadium. Nepal got second in the medal tally winning 206 medals with 60 silver and 95 bronze medals.

India topped the medal tally with 312 medals including 174 gold, 93 silver and 45 bronze medals.

Similarly, Sri Lanka became third winning 40 gold medals, 83 silver and 128 bronze.

Pakistan secured the fourth position with 31 gold, 41 silver and 59 bronze, while Bangladesh became fifth with 19 gold, 32 silver and 87 bronze.

Likewise, the Maldives became sixth with one gold and four bronze medals, and Bhutan was last with seven silver and 13 bronze medals.
