KATHMANDU: India has clinched 18 gold medals out of total 20 up for grabs in shooting under the 13th South Asian Games (SAG).
India hauled a total of 29 medals including 18 gold, seven silver and four bronze in the shooting competition which was held for a total of 60 medals.
Similarly, Pakistan which is in the second position bagged 14 medals including two gold, five silver and seven bronze.
Bangladesh, which has not won any gold medal, has bagged six silver and four bronze while Sri Lanka, which is placed fourth in the shooting medal tally, bagged seven medals, including two silver and five bronze. The Maldives, Bhutan and Nepal have not won any medal.
India won gold in the last event of shooting competition today while Sri Lanka won silver and Bangladesh bronze. India clinched gold in the 10 meters air pistol mixed event held at the shooting range at Saatdobato, Lalitpur today.
Nepali team came out in the fifth position and exited the shooting group round match.
The team of Anuraj Singh and Shrawan Kumar from India secured16 points and bagged the gold medal in 10 meters air pistol mixed event. The team of Elvis KAI and Fernando TDS of Sri Lanka was stopped by the Indian team in 8 points in the competition for a gold medal.
Bangladesh and Pakistan competed for the bronze medal. Bangladesh team won the bronze securing 17 points while the Pakistani team secured only 7 points.
Chief of the Army Staff Purna Chandra Thapa and Nepal Shooting Association president Pushpa Das Shrestha handed the medals to the winners.
