Nepal leads SAG cycling by 10 medals



KATHMANDU: Nepal has dominated the medal in cycling under the South Asian Games (SAG) by scoring altogether 10 medals.

Buddhi Bahadur Tamang, Rajeev Rai, Okesh Raj Bajracharya have won gold, silver and bronze medals in Men’s Cross Country Olympics by completing 4.00 km and 4 laps cycling at 1:19:08 hour, 1:19:40 hour and 1:21:00 hour respectively.

In the women’s category Laxmi Magar, and Usha Khanal won one gold and one silver medal by covering 4.00 km and 4 laps cycling in 1:20:20 hours and 1:35:52 hours in order.

For the same category of cycling, Pranita Prafull of India scored Bronze medal, she had covered the distance in 1:36:29 hour.

For the men’s Downhill Individual 1km elevation Drop 55 meter, Rajesh Magar, Nirav Shrestha and Prachit Thapa Magar won the gold, silver and bronze medal by completing the task in 1:49:333 hours, 1:50:080 hour and 1:51:661 hour respectively.

In the Women’s Downhill Individual 1 km elevation drop 55 meters, Nishma Shrestha and Jamuna Thapa, both Nepalese, scored the gold and bronze medal.

Athletes, Shrestha, and Jamuna had covered the distance in just 2:22:451 hours and 2:41:551 hour. Indian Yashodhara Madhukar scored bronze for her nation by covering the race distance at 3:37:238 hours.
