Impact of price soar: 350 kg of onions stolen in Tamil Nadu

TAMIL NADU: When onion prices are soaring in India each day, 350 kilograms of small onions have been allegedly stolen from a farmer in Koothanur village of Tamil Nadu’s Perambalur area.

A 40-year-old farmer, K Muthukrishanan, had stored 15 sacks of onions that he had harvested and purchased at his farm, Indian media reports have said.

However, in one of his worst nightmares, he found that 350 kg of onions were missing from his farm.

Muthukrishnan then registered a case with the Padalur police which is now investigating to find the culprits.

The cost of the stolen onions has been approximately over IRs 45,000. Onions are currently being priced between IRs 100 and IRs 150 in the Indian market. (Agencies)
