Cycle-lane construction to begin in Lalitpur from tomorrow

KATHMANDU: Lalitpur Metropolitan City has geared up for building a cycle lane in the metropolis with the aim of turning it into a cycle-friendly city from Saturday.

The cycle-lane will stretch along Jawalakhel to Lagankhel to Mangal Bazaar to Pulchowk areas, according to  the metropolis.

Locals, people’s representatives, cyclists and government officials will throng the office of the Metropolitan City at Pulchowk and will conduct a cycle rally from Pulchowk, Krishna Galli to Hariharbhawan to Kupandol tomorrow.

Talking to Khabarhub, Mayor of Lalitpur Metropolis Chiribabu Maharjan said, “We can save the environment and the pollution can be controlled if we encourage the use of cycle. The city will be clean.”

On August 19, Lalitpur metropolis had signed a deal with Ramit Construction P. Ltd on the construction of cycle-lane project. According to the agreement, construction will be over by April 12.
