KATHMANDU: Today’s dailies have prioritized the Darchula jeep accident, jail sentences on three individuals in Godamchaur rape case, release of Indian pilot by Pakistan, among others in today’s edition.

Eleven people died on the spot when a jeep carrying 12 people met with an accident in Duhu Rural Municipality in Darchula district Friday evening, reported Kantipur daily.

The ill-fated jeep –Se 1 Ja 280 — was heading for Hikila from district headquarters Khalanga when the accident took place. According to police the jeep fell some 500 meters down into the Mahakali River.

Similarly, Lalitpur District Court has slapped 10-year jail sentences on all three accused in the Godamchaur rape case, 15 months after the crime, along with a fine of Rs 100,000 each. On November 18, 2017,  the trio had raped a 21-year-old girl of Godamchaur in Godawari Municipality, Lalitpur, Republica daily reported.

Meanwhile, Pakistan on Friday released Indian pilot shot down in a dogfight what Islamabad called a ‘peace gesture’ following the biggest standoff between the two countries in years.

Naya Patrika daily has revealed an interesting fact about Singha Durbar, the main administrative hub, reporting that it was built for Rs 5 million 116 years ago by former Prime Minister Chandra Shumsher Rana. It had 1,700 rooms then.

Likewise, Prime Minister KP Oli said that late Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Rabindra Adhikari is innocent in the wide-body procurement graft case. Prime Minister Oli said so in a meeting called by Nepal Communist Party to pass a condolence motion for Adhikari, a report in Annapurna daily said.
