Western Nepal braces for rain as Terai enjoys clear skies

KATHMANDU: Nepal is set to experience partly cloudy conditions in several mountainous and hilly areas on Monday, with moderate to heavy rain and snowfall possible in parts of Karnali, Sudurpaschim and Lumbini provinces, according to the weather office.

According to the Weather Forecasting Division, the weather will be generally cloudy in the mountainous regions of Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces this afternoon, while the rest of the country’s mountainous and hilly regions will experience partly cloudy conditions. The weather is expected to remain mainly clear in the Terai region.

Moderate to heavy rainfall or snowfall is possible in the mountainous and hilly regions of Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as at a few places in the mountainous region of Lumbini Province.

Similarly, light rainfall or snowfall is likely in the mountainous and hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, with one or two places in the hilly region of Lumbini Province also likely to receive precipitation.

The Division said the weather would remain partly cloudy in the mountainous regions of the country tonight, while the hilly and Terai regions are expected to experience mainly clear conditions.

The forecast suggests that precipitation will be largely limited to the western mountainous and hilly regions, while most of the country, particularly the Terai, is likely to experience relatively stable weather.
