Rainfall likely in several provinces today

KATHMANDU: Light to moderate rainfall has occurred at some places in Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, and at a few places in Koshi Province over the past 12 hours, according to the Weather Forecasting Division.

The Division said light to heavy rainfall is likely at various places across the country this afternoon and tonight.

This afternoon, moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely at a few places in the mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces. Light rain or snowfall with thunder and lightning is also possible at one or two places in the mountainous areas of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.

Similarly, moderate to heavy rain or snowfall with thunder and lightning is likely at some places in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces. Light rain or snowfall accompanied by thunder, lightning and hail is possible at a few places in the hilly areas of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.

Moderate to heavy rain or snowfall with thunder and lightning is also likely at a few places in the Terai areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, including Madhesh Province, and at one or two places in the Terai areas of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces.

The Division has forecast heavy rain or snowfall at one or two places in the hilly and Terai areas of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces this afternoon.

Tonight, moderate to heavy rain or snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely at one or two places in the hilly areas of Koshi, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces. Light rain or snowfall with thunder and lightning is also possible at one or two places in the hilly areas of other parts of the country.

Moderate to heavy rainfall with thunder and lightning is also likely at a few places in the Terai areas of Madhesh and Koshi provinces tonight.

Meteorologists have clarified that current weather forecasting technology in Nepal cannot determine the exact location where rainfall will occur within a province. Therefore, when rainfall is forecast for a particular province, it means that rain may occur at any location within that province.
