Two dead, one rescued after being buried in mudslide



BAGLUNG: Two of the three workers buried when a mound of earth suddenly collapsed during road construction in Boharagaun, Nisikhola Rural Municipality-3, Baglung, have died, while the third has been rescued with serious injuries.

The deceased have been identified as Lal Bahadur Budhathoki, 28, of Salyan, and Raju Thapa, 32, of Gaighat, Udayapur. They were working on the Kapra–Boharagaun–Chhapakhani section of the road at around 7:30 a.m. when the incident occurred, according to Phadindra Prasai, Chief Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Baglung.

The two workers died while rescue efforts were underway. The third worker, Krishna Gharti Magar of Rolpa, was rescued with serious injuries.

Gharti Magar was taken to Provincial Hospital, Burtibang, for treatment, according to Ramesh Bikram Shahi, chairman of Ward No. 3 of Nisikhola Rural Municipality.

The workers were buried when a pile of earth suddenly collapsed as a JCB (Lu 1 Ka 3446), driven by Bhadra Malla, was being used to upgrade the road.
