JHAPA: The Mechi Customs Office at Kakarbhitta collected Rs 2.83 billion in revenue during the first two months of the current fiscal year, achieving 92.14 percent of its combined target of Rs 3.07 billion for Shrawan and Bhadra.
The office collected Rs 1.27 billion in Shrawan against a target of Rs 1.43 billion. Revenue collection rose to Rs 1.55 billion in Bhadra, compared with the monthly target of Rs 1.64 billion. The office’s target achievement improved from 89.19 percent in Shrawan to 94.73 percent in Bhadra.
Chief Customs Officer Shiva Lal Neupane said revenue collection in Bhadra was 9.43 percent higher than the Rs 1.36 billion collected during the same month of the previous fiscal year.
Neupane attributed the increase to the gradual recovery of cross-border trade and tighter customs administration at the border point.
