KATHMANDU: Weather conditions are expected to remain unsettled across much of the country, with heavy rainfall and thunderstorms forecast in several provinces as a low-pressure system over India continues to influence Nepal.
The Weather Forecasting Division has stated that the country is currently under the partial influence of monsoon winds and westerly winds. A low-pressure system is also situated over northern Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh in India.
According to the Division, most parts of the country are currently experiencing cloudy conditions. Light to moderate rainfall is occurring in many places of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, some places in Bagmati Province, and a few places in Koshi and Madhes provinces.
This afternoon, moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms is likely in most mountainous and hilly areas of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as in many mountainous and hilly areas of Koshi and Bagmati provinces.
Moderate to heavy rainfall with thunderstorms is also likely in most parts of the Terai areas of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces, and in some areas of the Terai in Madhes, Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.
A few places in Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces may receive heavy to very heavy rainfall, while one or two places in Koshi and Bagmati provinces may receive heavy rainfall. Windstorms are also possible in some areas of Madhes Province and the Terai areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces.
Tonight, weather will remain mostly cloudy in Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces and generally cloudy in Koshi and Madhes provinces.
Moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms is likely in most mountainous and hilly areas of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, many areas of the mountainous and hilly regions of Bagmati Province, and some areas of the mountainous and hilly regions of Koshi Province.
Similarly, moderate to heavy rainfall with thunderstorms is likely in most parts of the Terai areas of Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces, many areas of the Terai in Bagmati Province, and some areas of the Terai in Madhes and Koshi provinces.
A few places in Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces may receive heavy to very heavy rainfall, while one or two places in Madhes Province may receive heavy rainfall. Very heavy rainfall is also possible at one or two places in Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces.
Windstorms are also possible in some areas of the Terai in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces.
