Chinese President Xi Jinping’s effigy set on fire in Nepal



SAPTARI: Youths in the district have burned an effigy of Chinese President Xi Jinping protesting the encroachment of Nepali land and illegal activities of Chinese in Nepal.

Independent Civil Society protested at Kanchanpur of the district and also set the effigy on fire.

Hundreds attended the protests organized in Saptari and Janakpur. Of late, protests have been staged in different parts of Nepal against China.

The protestors held placards, banners and chanted slogans such as “Go back China and Return Nepali land” during the protests.

The protests come after a survey report released by the Survey Department stated that China has encroached upon 36 hectare land of Nepal.
