KATHMANDU: Major opposition Nepali Congress has urged all sides to not conduct any activity that negatively affects the election. It also drew the attention of the Election Commission to stop the activities that violate the election code of conduct.

The NC By-Election 2076 Monitoring and Election Commission coordination committee mentioned that its duty of every individual to abide by the election code of conduct issued by the EC in order to conduct the election in a free and fair atmosphere.

Committee coordinator Ramesh Lekhak informed media at the party headquarters today that various activities have been conducted against the election code of conduct with sheer misuse of power.

Various 37 districts are holding the by-election to elect the people’s representatives in the vacant posts on November 30.

“Persons holding government and public position of the ruling parties are involved in election publicity; distributing budget and influencing voters with unwanted activities,” Lekhak said, reminding that his party made aware the Chief Election Commissioners and Election Commissioners on violation of election code of conduct and its initiative to stop the violation.
