BAJURA: The Sanfe-Martadi road section connecting Bajura’s district headquarters has been blocked at several locations following landslides triggered by incessant rainfall.
According to the District Police Office, landslides occurred at Kargar Mode, Binod Smriti Pratikshalaya, Selagad, Suwakandh and other locations in Badimalika Municipality-9, Martadi, after continuous rainfall overnight. The landslides deposited debris and blocked the road at multiple points.
Police Inspector Gagan Singh Bhat of the District Police Office said landslides had also blocked the road at Rapka in Badimalika Municipality-8 and Jadanga in Ward No. 6.
Following reports of the road blockage, a five-member police team led by Police Assistant Inspector Laxmi Dutta Bhatt was deployed to the affected areas.
The police team, in coordination with Badimalika Municipality and the Road Division Office, is working to clear the landslide debris using JCB excavators and reopen the road, according to the District Police Office.
Police have warned that continued rainfall could trigger landslides at additional locations along the road. The blockage has disrupted traffic on the Sanfe-Martadi section, leaving vehicles stranded and preventing passengers and goods from reaching their destinations.
