KATHMANDU: Seven people have died in floods in the Bhotekoshi area of Rasuwa district.
According to Nepal Police, seven bodies had been recovered by midday Wednesday. It said four bodies were found in Dhading and three along the riverbank in Nuwakot.
Police are also working to bring people who fled to higher ground following the floods to Dhunche, the district headquarters.
According to the Nepal Police, they are currently rescuing the injured and recovering the bodies that have been found. A search operation is also underway for those reported missing.
The injured have been taken to Dhunche Hospital for treatment. Police said Trishuli Hospital is being used as a base for the rescue operation, with helicopters being deployed to evacuate those in need.
It added that arrangements have been made to transport the injured from there to Kathmandu by ambulance for further treatment.
