Generally cloudy conditions expected across Nepal today



KATHMANDU: The country is likely to experience generally cloudy weather today, with rainfall and thunderstorms expected in several parts of the country, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.

The Himalayan and hilly regions are expected to remain generally cloudy, while the Tarai is likely to see partly cloudy conditions.

The Department has forecast moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning at some places in the Himalayan region and many parts of the hilly areas. Some areas of the Tarai in Koshi and Sudurpashchim provinces may also receive moderate rainfall with thunderstorms.

In the Tarai of Koshi Province, moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning is likely at some locations. Similar conditions are possible at a few places in Madhesh Province and the Tarai areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpashchim provinces.

The weather service said the entire country remains under the influence of monsoon winds, while the monsoon trough is currently positioned close to its average location.

The Department has advised people in areas expecting thunderstorms and rainfall to remain alert, particularly where heavy downpours could affect travel, outdoor activities and local conditions.
