Nine parliamentary committees to meet today on legislative and oversight matters



KATHMANDU: Nine parliamentary committees under the Federal Parliament are scheduled to meet today to discuss various legislative, policy and oversight matters.

The meetings are taking place as the House of Representatives is scheduled to meet today, while the National Assembly is set to meet on Friday, according to the Federal Parliament Secretariat.

The Finance Committee, scheduled to meet at 11:00 am, will continue clause-by-clause discussions on the Bill to Amend the Nepal Rastra Bank Act, 2058. The Finance Minister and Finance Secretary have been invited to the meeting.

Similarly, the International Relations and Tourism Committee, also meeting at 11:00 am, is scheduled to discuss the Tourism Bill, 2081 with stakeholders, including representatives of the Hotel Association Nepal.

Likewise, the Industry and Commerce, and Labor and Consumer Welfare Committee will meet at 10:00 am to discuss complaints received by the committee.

Also at 10:00 am, the Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee will hold discussions with producers on improving the production, storage, marketing and distribution of organic fertilizers in Nepal and gradually reducing the use of chemical fertilizers without compromising agricultural production.

The Infrastructure Development Committee, meeting at 10:00 am, will discuss the Bagmati Beautification Project being implemented under the empowered Bagmati Civilization Integrated Development Committee.

The State Affairs and Good Governance Committee, scheduled for 11:00 am, will discuss the work and activities of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) with commission officials.

Similarly, the Education, Health and Information Technology Committee will meet at 10:00 am to discuss the National Forensic Science Laboratory (Establishment and Operation) Bill, 2081.

The Public Accounts Committee, also meeting at 10:00 am, will discuss the audit of foreign assistance received by Nepal.

The Legislative Management Committee will meet at 1:00 pm to discuss legislative matters with the president and executive director of the National Federation of Rural Municipalities Nepal.
