Rabi responds to PM Shah’s ‘I am alone’ Facebook post: ‘He is also a lyricist’

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chair Rabi Lamichhane has said there are no immediate plans to reshuffle ministers in the government led by Prime Minister Balendra Shah.

Speaking to journalists after a parliamentary party meeting held in the absence of Shah on Wednesday, Lamichhane said the party had not reached any decision to change ministers.

“There will be no immediate ministerial changes. Questions may have been raised about two or three out of 100 things, but that does not mean we have decided to make changes,” Lamichhane said.

He said the meeting was held to make parliamentary practices more organised and dignified and to improve coordination between ministers and lawmakers.

Lamichhane also said the party would proceed with the appointment of office-bearers and Central Committee members in accordance with its statute, which provides a five-year timeframe for completing the process.

Responding to media reports about growing differences between him and Prime Minister Shah, Lamichhane jokingly urged journalists to continue writing about the alleged rift.

“Sometimes you write that there is growing distance between the prime minister and me. Because you keep writing it, we have actually become even closer. Please don’t stop writing,” he said.

Asked about Shah’s recent Facebook post suggesting that he had been left alone, Lamichhane offered a light-hearted response.

“The prime minister is also a writer and a lyricist, so please don’t interpret everything purely from a political perspective,” he said.
