KATHMANDU: A tense exchange unfolded during Tuesday’s meeting of the House of Representatives after Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker Ashika Tamang walked out of the parliamentary session, expressing dissatisfaction with Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal’s response.
Tamang was unhappy with the minister’s response regarding the repatriation of the body of Santosh Rai from Dhading, who died in Cambodia.
Following the minister’s response, Tamang sought additional time to raise a question. However, Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal did not allow her to speak, prompting her to leave the meeting.
As Khanal was delivering his response, Tamang stood up and insisted that she be allowed to ask a question. Speaker Aryal, however, told her that she had not been given the floor.
“I have not given you time to speak. Please take your seat,” Aryal told Tamang.
Tamang continued to insist that she should be allowed to speak. The Speaker then instructed her to remain seated and maintain the dignity of the House.
The instruction further angered Tamang. She subsequently picked up her bag and walked out of the parliamentary meeting in protest.
