Joint bench to hear habeas corpus petition filed for journalist Kishor Shrestha



KATHMANDU: A habeas corpus petition filed on behalf of journalist Kishor Shrestha is scheduled for hearing at the Supreme Court today.

The petition is listed before a joint bench comprising Supreme Court Justices Nahakul Subedi and Bal Krishna Dhakal.

On August 14, Justice Dhakal, sitting on a single bench, ordered that Shrestha, who is in custody on charges of violating personal privacy, be produced before the court on August 17 along with the belongings seized from him.

Police arrested journalist Shrestha from his residence in Lalitpur on Wednesday night on charges related to the violation of personal privacy. Following his arrest, his wife, Saraswati Shrestha, filed a habeas corpus petition at the Supreme Court on Thursday.
