Govt prioritising job creation in agriculture, forestry and environment: Minister Chaudhary

KATHMANDU: Minister for Agriculture, Forestry and Environment Gita Chaudhary has said the government has prioritised creating employment opportunities in the agriculture, forestry and environmental sectors.

Issuing a message on the occasion of International Youth Day on Wednesday, Minister Chaudhary said greater youth participation should be encouraged to harness their innovative ideas, energy and determination for national development.

She said young people have made important contributions to the development of agriculture and the conservation of forests and the environment through innovative approaches.

Describing young people as the country’s strongest human resource for development, Chaudhary stressed the need to connect rural areas with technology to make youth empowerment more effective.

This year’s International Youth Day is being observed under the theme “Different Contexts, Shared Aspirations.”

International Youth Day has been observed on August 12 since 2000 following a call by the United Nations.

The day is marked to promote youth-focused policymaking at national and international levels and increase youth participation in society.
