Five arrested with heroin in Kathmandu, Bardiya and Jhapa



KATHMANDU: Police have arrested five people in separate anti-drug operations in Kathmandu, Bardiya and Jhapa, seizing brown heroin along with cash and other items.

According to the Central Police News Desk, officers from the Narcotics Control Bureau arrested three people from a guest house in Mitranagar, Kathmandu, on Wednesday.

The suspects—Hit Bahadur Basnet, Ram Krishna Sharma and Dhananjay Paswan—were allegedly found in possession of 43 grams of brown heroin, which police said had been concealed inside a sack of puffed rice.

Police also recovered two digital weighing scales, 11 mobile phones and Rs 50,000 in cash during the operation.

In a separate incident, police arrested two men from Mainapokhar Chowk in Bansgadhi Municipality-5, Bardiya, after recovering 540 milligrams of brown heroin on Wednesday afternoon.

The arrested have been identified as 24-year-old Kiran Nepali of Bansgadhi Municipality-6 and 36-year-old Satiram Tharu.

Meanwhile, in Jhapa, police arrested 30-year-old Biraj Bhujel from Jhapa Rural Municipality-1 after recovering 1.67 grams of brown heroin from his possession.

Bhujel, a resident of Dudhe in Shivasatakshi Municipality-9, originally hails from Roshi Rural Municipality-12 in Kavrepalanchok.

Police said further investigation into all three cases is underway.
