KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress leader Shekhar Koirala has given the party’s establishment faction until July 9 to make a clear decision on party unity, according to sources close to him.
The sources said Koirala conveyed the deadline to the party leadership through Vice President Bishwa Prakash Sharma.
Koirala has indicated that if no clear decision on party unity is reached by the deadline, he will determine his future political strategy accordingly.
In recent days, he has held separate meetings with senior party leaders, including Purna Bahadur Khadka, Krishna Prasad Sitaula, Dr. Shashanka Koirala, and Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat, to discuss the evolving political situation within the party.
On Saturday, Koirala also met senior leader Bimalendra Nidhi at Baneshwor Heights as part of the ongoing consultations.
