KATHMANDU: The Cabinet meeting held on Thursday approved a series of significant policy, administrative, and institutional decisions, including the endorsement of the Tenth Amendment to the Education Regulations, 2083.
The meeting, held at Singha Durbar, approved more than half a dozen decisions aimed at strengthening governance, public administration, and sectoral reforms.
As part of its education reform agenda, the Cabinet officially endorsed the Education (Tenth Amendment) Regulations, 2083. It also approved the First Amendment to the Kamaiya Labor Prohibition Rules, 2083, along with the National Integrity Policy, 2083, and the National Advertisement Policy, 2083.
The Cabinet also made several appointments to vacant senior positions in public institutions. Hikmat Bahadur Rawal of Kailali has been appointed General Manager of the Gorkhapatra Corporation, while Devraj Dhungana of Morang has been appointed Executive Director of the Security Printing Centre. Likewise, Dharmaraj Khadka of Dhankuta has been appointed Executive Director of the Special Structure Operation and Management Development Committee.
In the security sector, the government decided to transfer eight Additional Inspectors General (AIGs) of the Nepal Police as part of efforts to further strengthen law enforcement and security management.
The Cabinet also approved a proposal to table before the Federal Parliament the ratification of the Agreement under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea on the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Marine Biological Diversity of Areas Beyond National Jurisdiction (BBNJ Agreement), marking another step toward Nepal’s commitment to international environmental and biodiversity conservation frameworks.
