Authorities issue instructions to close unregistered crusher industries

MYAGDI: Raghuganga Rural Municipality in Myagdi has issued a public notice directing the closure and removal of crusher industries operating illegally without completing the required registration process.

According to Chief Administrative Officer Kulraj Poudel, crusher industries operating without fulfilling legal requirements have been instructed to cease operations and remove their equipment within one month.

The rural municipality stated that legal action will be taken against any crusher industry, except those licensed for hydropower and development projects, if found extracting riverbed materials illegally.

Poudel said action would be initiated against crusher industries and their equipment if they are not removed within one month of the notice, which came into effect on June 25.

Rural Municipality Chairman Bhawa Bahadur Bhandari said five crusher industries are currently operating in Raghuganga. He said the crusher plants at Chamere and the dam construction site of the Rahughat Hydropower Project, as well as those operated by Mona Hydropower and Chitwan Energy at Ghyansikharka, have completed the required legal process.

Bhandari said the rural municipality had taken the initiative to shut down illegal crusher industries because they were causing revenue losses through the unauthorized extraction and export of riverbed materials.
