CHITWAN: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) spokesperson Manish Jha has announced his candidacy for the post of General Secretary in the party’s first national convention currently underway in Chitwan.
Jha stated that he plans to contest for the General Secretary position while also securing a seat in the Central Committee, as per the party’s electoral structure.
According to the RSP statute, candidates must first be elected to the Central Committee before competing for party office-bearer positions.
With his announcement, Jha has become the first leader to publicly declare a bid for a key party position during the convention. Other leaders are also expected to enter the race for top posts, although most have so far limited their focus to Central Committee membership.
Unconfirmed reports suggest that Bhupdev Shah is likely to secure a General Secretary position, while several other leaders are also vying for the role.
Among those expressing interest in the General Secretary post are Bipin Acharya, current General Secretary Kabindra Burlakoti, and Deepak Bohara, among others.
The leadership selection process is expected to intensify as the convention moves toward internal elections for office-bearers and the Central Committee.
