KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Oli has decided to opt for another kidney transplant after his kidney that was transplanted some 12 years ago stopped functioning.

Doctors attending to the prime minister had floated him with an option to either undergo regular dialysis or go for re-transplantation. PM Oli has chosen the second option, media report said on Sunday.

According to the report, however, it is yet to be finalized on where the procedure will be performed.

The prime minister had already undergone dialysis thrice at the Dhapasi-based Grande International Hospital.

Dialysis of the blood is a process to remove toxic substances or metabolic wastes from the bloodstream used in the case of kidney failure.
